Em Rusciano is asking her fans to financially contribute to her podcast, despite signing a lucrative deal with Spotify to make her show exclusive to the platform.
The comedian, 43, is asking her supporters to sign up for tiers on Patreon ranging from $7 to $41 a month, and has hired someone to manage the page and give it a ‘total face lift’.
‘Emsolation’s Patreon page has had a total face lift. Someone else is running it, and there’s new levels, new perks, new tiers,’ she said on Instagram on Sunday.

She continued: ‘We’re going to be doing a livestream before every episode [of Emsolation] so you guys can help us plan the show.
‘If you love our podcast and you want to support us for not much a month, do so.
‘Listen, it’s hard for creators to ask their audience to financially contribute, but I’m kind of letting that go. And, yes, we’re a Spotify exclusive, but we produce two podcasts a week.’

Em said she was a ‘one-woman band’ with a ‘staff of six working on the show’.
She said in order to keep making a ‘high-quality podcast’, she was going to ask fans to ‘contribute’ a small amount of money each month.
The former 2Day FM breakfast show host concluded by saying she was ‘not going to apologise’ for asking for money because she gives her fans ‘heaps’ of content.

Em currently has $7, $14 and $41 tiers available on her Patreon page, with each tier offering varying benefits for subscribers.
Previously, she only posted on the platform once every few months, but so far this week has uploaded content on both Sunday and Monday.

She explained how she had just signed a contract with Spotify Australia to make her Emsolation podcast a Spotify Exclusive while still granting her full creative control – after years of having her output carefully managed by radio executives.
Em was hired to host 2Day FM’s breakfast show in 2017 alongside Harley Breen, but in September 2018 she announced she was leaving in order to focus on having a baby.
Before her departure, multiple reports alleged employees had left 2Day FM and others were looking for new jobs due to Em’s ‘attitude’.
