Doc Martin viewers were left in floods of tears as the final series came to an end on Wednesday (26 October) night and deemed it a "brilliant ending." Fear not, it's not quite over yet as ITV have confirmed there will be a Christmas special which sadly will be the "final farewell."
In February this year, Cornish locals spotted a festive set filled with decorations in the centre of Port Isaac. A Christmas tree, along with decorations, were displayed across the set and Martin Clunes – known as the doctor himself – confirmed that fans can look forward to the festive show.
Doc Martin has been filming in the lovable seaside town for the last 18 years which Mr Clunes said he has "loved" – but series ten must come to an end and what better way than with a special episode for fans. He has become a beloved character on our screens, with his grumpy, direct nature winning the hearts of plenty of fans across the globe.

ITV have shared that the Christmas special will be called “Last Christmas in Portwenn." Martin told an entertainment media outlet, What to Watch, about what viewers can expect from the final episode. A sneak peek revealed that it will be "really really Christmassy."
Mr Clunes said: "“It’s going to be really, really Christmassy! Which is just what you’d hope for, right?!"
Also joining the cast of the Doc Martin Christmas special are Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, Eileen Atkins and many other favourites. When the show will air is still yet to be confirmed, neither-the-less people fans have already shared their excitement. We can assume it will be a festive episode on our screens around December 25.
SPOILER ALERT: below contains spoilers for last night's episode of Doc Martin (October 26) – do not read it if you haven't watched the final.
It was an emotional night for Doc Martin fans as they waved goodbye to the Ellinghams and Portwenn in the final episode of the 10th – and final – series.
Since Martin Clunes first played him just over 18 years ago, cantankerous GP Martin Ellingham has become a beloved character on our screens, with his grumpy, direct nature winning the hearts of plenty of fans across the globe.
The episode saw the Ellinghams start to pack their lives into boxes, with Martin selling furniture from his surgery to raise money for charity ahead of his family's big move to London. Their move saw a number of Portwenn residents become emotional, especially Mrs Tishell, who was implored by Aunt Ruth to tear down her shrine dedicated to the doctor before having a meltdown on the roof of the Ellingham's moving van.
Fans have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the final episode of the medical comedy drama, which was filmed in Port Isaac, with many claiming they became emotional. Nunya wrote on Twitter: "Why am I sat sobbing over #DocMartin".
