Darkly absurd, irreverent and fraught with the kind of spiky self-deprecation that’s aimed at you as much as at himself, Dylan Moran is one of very few comedians who can comfortably tell a live audience not to laugh, or clap, and actually mean it. “If you clap, I’ll forget stuff,” he says. Awkward silence is the kind of response he lives for. In 2015, during an onstage riff about being left alone with your thoughts, he rambled into a thought he may have prepared, or it might have just occurred to him: “Have you ever had a bath? That goes on a bit too long, doesn’t it?”
