We knew it was coming!
After years of kid-friendly shows and movies Eddie Murphy has been gearing up to make a big comeback to adult entertainment, kind of. With a highly anticipated sequel to “Coming to America” (albeit a PG-13 sequel) on the way and a return to the Saturday Night Live stage as host in December for the first time in 35 years, the Godfather of comedy appears poised to reclaim the stand-up stage. There’s hollywood rumblings of a return to his comedy roots with a new standup tour in 2020.
This is going to be epic.
Murphy revealed in a Netflix podcast, Present Company with Krista Smith, that he plans to do a comedy tour, saying: “… and then next year in 2020 I’m going to go on the road and do some stand-up.”
That statement coincides with the rumors that Murphy signed a multimillion-dollar Netflix deal for a standup special, though those reports have been neither confirmed nor denied by Murphy.
Another testament to Murphy’s return to adult comedy was the recently wrapped Dolemite Is My Name a story about the life of stand-up comedian Rudy Ray Moore for Netflix.
Congratulations Mr. Murphy, welcome back to the world to cuss’ yo’ ass out entertainment and Jedi tomfoolery, may the MF’s be with you!
