’Mayans M.C.’s JD Pardo Joining Remake of This Iconic Patrick Swayze Film – Remezcla

Actor JD Pardo (Mayans M.C.) has signed on for a role in the remake of the 1989 action flick Road House. The film, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal (Ambulance), is currently in production in the Dominican Republic.

Directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow), the remake will follow Dalton (Gyllenhaal), a former UFC fighter who lands a gig as a bouncer for a rowdy bar in the Florida Keys. The original film starred the late Patrick Swayze (Ghost) as Dalton. Details about Pardo’s role are not yet known.
On Twitter, Pardo responded to one of his followers that Road House was a movie that should not be remade. “You’re misjudging this,” Pardo wrote. “I am not a big fan of remakes, especially classics. (And, yes, Road House is a classic). This [is] more of a comedic version of the original, which is why I signed on to play a part.”

Most recently, Pardo starred in a recurring role as a San Diego-based FBI special agent on the Prime Video series The Terminal List. Earlier this summer, he wrapped up the fourth season on FX’s Mayans M.C. where he plays biker club president Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes. Mayans M.C. has been renewed for a fifth season.
Joining Pardo in Road House is his The Terminal List co-star Arturo Castro. The Guatemalan actor is best known for his role in the Comedy Central series Broad City and the Netflix series Narcos. He’ll also be featured in the thriller The Menu late this year.
