Netflix has a sitcom coming soon with Rev Run and Justine Simmons. All About The Washingtons will serve as something of an autobiographical look into Rev’s home life.
All About The Washingtons should sound very familiar. Retired rapper Joey Washington (Rev Run) settles into domestic life with the family only for wife Justine Washington (Justine Simmons) to begin working. The household will also have kids who are coming into their own. Of course, this means that Joey and Justine will have to deal with their shenanigans while raising them the best they can.
Details on the characters weren’t revealed as not to give away too much about the show. Going by how these kinds of sitcoms play out we might see Justine deal with a difficult Joey and his own shenanigans. Who knows, All About The Washingtons could surprise us all and prove to be a unique comedy like ABC’s Black-ish.
The show does have one thing going for it. There’s a uniqueness that goes with featuring a well-to-do family. A retired, legendary musician? Rev’s character isn’t a rapper who just couldn’t break into the mainstream. Who knows, we could be looking at a lighter Empire with far less soap opera. It will be interesting to see what supporting characters are thrown into All About The Washingtons.
The show is created by Jeremy Bronson with Andrew Reich as showrunner. Justin Farley, Rev Run, Justine Simmons, and Darryl Frank join Jeremy Bronson as executive producers. It will arrive on Netflix August 10.
