The result of his hard work landed him many production deals and casting deals, netting him millions. He got his start in show business at an early age, appearing on screen for the first time at 17 years old.

Nick joined the Lincoln Park Bloods street gang as a teen. However, his tenure as a thug was short-lived after losing a close friend to gang violence.
Cannon started his music career at the tender age of eight after his grandfather bought him several instruments to practice. While the music was his first love, Nick took to the stage as a teenager to do standup comedy. He started out performing on his father’s public-access TV show, and his success led to him being booked at local comedy clubs.
In 1998, Nick graduated from Monte Vista High School, moving to Hollywood to chase his dreams of being a movie star. He worked as a standup for years, garnering himself a name at top clubs like The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, and The Improv.
However, Nick would get his big break on TV after landing a role on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy show “All That” during the mid-1990s. During this time, Nick was a part of the hip hop group ‘Da G4 Dope Bomb Squad,’ with the group opening for acts like Will Smith, Montel Jordan, LFO, and 98 Degrees.
Cannon decided to make up for his lack of education later in life. The actor/musician enrolled at Howard University in 2016, graduating in 2020 with a BA degree in Criminology/Administration of Justice.
After accepting the gig at Nickelodeon, Cannon became the youngest-ever staff writer for the show at 17 years old. After experiencing success at Nickelodeon, he landed ‘The Nick Cannon Show,’ producing and starring in it, before moving on to sign with MTV to create his improv series, ‘Nick Cannon Presents Wild’ N Out.’
It turned out to be one of the most successful shows ever produced on MTV, with Cannon running it from 2005 to 2007. The show would return for a longer run on MTV2 in 2013. Cannon joined as one of the hosts on ‘Americas Got Talent,’ serving from 2009 to 2017.
During his tenure on the show, the exposure he received as a host earned him appearances on TV shows like ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood.’
Nick returned to hosting in 2019 with his role on the competition TV series ‘The Masked Singer.’ While he was successful on TV, Nick always dreamed of being in movies, and he earned his breakthrough appearance alongside his childhood hero, Will Smith, on ‘Men in Black II, in 2002.

Cannon played the role of Regis Philbin in 2019. He served as the host of the show ‘America’s Got Talent’ from 2009 to 2016, earning $70,000 per episode. Nick would cite creative differences with the executive team at the end of the 2017 season, stating he wouldn’t be back for the show’s following season.
However, Nick was already on the wire at the time, and there were rumors of the company potentially firing him for his controversial statements in his Showtime special, ‘Stand Up, Don’t Shoot.’ Tyra Banks went on to replace Cannon on America’s Got Talent.
Nick Cannon got into trouble in 2020 after ViacomCBS announced they were canceling the actor due to him failing to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitic remarks. The ‘slurs’ appeared on Nick’s YouTube series, ‘Cannon’s Class.’
When interviewed about his transgression and refusal to apologize, Cannon went on a rant discussing conspiracy theories and the Rothschild family. The actor seemed somewhat unhinged during the interview with rapper Professor Griff of Public Enemy.
ViacomCBS terminated the relationship on July 14, 2020, citing “hate speech and antisemitic conspiracy theory.” The news of the cancelation spread to KPWR Power 106, where Cannon hosts the show ‘Nick Cannon Mornings.’
Cannon announced on July 16, 2020, that he would be taking time off from the radio show to reflect on his options and create a new plan of action for his career.
After realizing the industry was in the process of canceling him for good, Nick took to Twitter to apologize for his actions on the show. His tweet is as follows.
“First and foremost, I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin.”
“They reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people, and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naïve place that these words came from.”
The actor went on to say, “While the Jewish experience encompasses more than 5,000 years and there is so much I have yet to learn, I have had at least a minor history lesson over the past few days, and to say that it is eye-opening would be a vast understatement.”
He concluded the apology with the following statement.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Rabbis, community leaders, and institutions who reached out to me to help enlighten me instead of chastising me.”
“I want to assure my Jewish friends, new and old, that this is only the beginning of my education — I am committed to deeper connections, more profound learning, and strengthening the bond between our two cultures today and every day going forward.”
Due to his apology, Nick remained the host of his Fox TV show ‘The Masked Singer,’ which he’s hosted since 2019.
Nick Cannon was the husband of Mariah Carey between 2008 to 2016. The couple married on a private estate on Windermere Island in The Bahamas. Carey and Cannon have four children together, including a set of twins, Moroccan Monroe and Scott.

Nick claims he and Mariah have an amicable relationship and still sees his kids from time to time. When the couple married in 2006, Nick had a paltry net worth of just $500,000, compared to Carey’s fortune of $150 million.
The filings also revealed that Nick earned $2.7 million in 2014, while Carey earned $6.3 million for the year. As part of the divorce settlement, Nick received a 2012 Ferrari and had to commit to paying $5,000 per month to a trust for their children.

Nobody can predict the future. You just have to give your all to the relationship you’re in and do your best to take care of your partner, communicate and give them every last drop of love you have. I think one of the most important things in a relationship is caring for your significant other through good times and bad.
I think it takes a strong man to be in a relationship with a strong woman. A lot of people hear the word ‘diva’ and think of it as a negative. I see it as a positive. I want somebody who knows what they want out of life and isn’t afraid to show it.
I think one of the most important things in a relationship is caring for your significant other through good times and bad.
I’m so into playing different characters, even when I was on Nickelodeon. I just observe.
In the hip-hop community, it’s about how real are you, or how strong can you be, and really my music just reflects me. If you can accept me, then you can accept my music.
To be compared to Will Smith is probably one of the coolest things because that’s who I came up admiring.
Real men change diapers! Nick Cannon If you want to be in the automotive business, you go to Detroit, and you figure it out. If you want to be in Entertainment, go to where it’s at. Go to Hollywood, go to New York.
Just speak yourself into existence. Whatever you want, speak it. You can see it.
I’m a musician. I play instruments. I dabble in the hip-hop field. That doesn’t take vocal ability necessarily.
I just work – however people feel about it, I mean, at the end of the day, if I’m waiting for accolades, I could be waiting all my life, but I don’t need that stuff.
