Robin is the Creator, Executive Producer and Star of HBO’s new sketch comedy, “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” The first of its kind in American television history. Robin’s vision for showcasing black women in comedy perfectly blends with her long background in sketch comedy in this groundbreaking series. Prior, she was the Creator, Executive Producer and Host of “The Randown” on BET. Robin’s uniquely hilarious take on politics and pop culture gained the show massive critical acclaim. In addition, Slate.com dubbed it ‘black twitter in late night form.’ Elle.com proclaimed, “Robin brings ‘black girl joy’ to late night.’ The Rundown also landed on ‘best of’ lists for The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Vulture, and many others. Robin was only the fourth black woman in history to host a late-night show.
Comedy Writer and Performer
Robin is a writer and former head writer for Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore (2015). Prior, she was head writer on “The Queen Latifah Show” and co-writer BET’s hit comedy Real Husbands of Hollywood. Other writing credits include the BET Awards, UNCF Evening of Stars, and the NAACP Image Awards.
Robin’s comedy work extends from years of professional live sketch comedy. She honed her skills at Second City Chicago and LA. to comedic commentary on shows like Fuel TV’s The Daily Habit (2005) and Style Network’s What I Hate About Me (2010). Other notable work includes co-hosting on The Voice of Reason on Jamie Foxx’s Foxxhole radio. Robin has also served as a regular entertainment correspondent on E! News.
Robin’s countless characters and boundless energy make her a comedic force to be reckoned with, but she’s also a great dramatic actress. Her role in the NAACP Theater “Girls of Summer” she her acting range. She also won Best Actress in the Brussels International Film Festival for the short film “Plant One on Me.”
