Trevor Noah’s time as host of The Daily Show is coming to an end. The comedian and talk show host dropped a bombshell last month, revealing that he would be ending his run as host of The Daily Show last month. This week, Comedy Central made an official announcement that Trevor Noah will be officially signing off as host of The Daily Show on Thursday, Dec. 8.
Comedy Central will kick off Noah’s final week as host of the show with a celebratory look back at his greatest moments starting Monday, Dec. 5. After that, the show will take a brief hiatus until January 2023. However, the network is staying mum on what’s next for the show and Noah’s replacement for the moment.
Comedy Central also confirmed that after Noah’s exit, The Daily Show will make its post-holiday return to the network on Tuesday, Jan. 17. More details on Noah’s replacement and the show’s return will be announced later on.

Ahead of Noah’s sign-off, the Emmy-winning show will celebrate his seven-year run as host with a special look back at his best moments. Additionally, Comedy Central states that The Daily Show will embark on its own reinvention on the heels of the midterm elections as the show will visit Atlanta, Georgia, which is one of the most important battleground states. More details on the return of the show in January will be revealed later.
Speaking on the news, Marapount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios President & CEO Chris McCarthy commented, “Trevor is an incredible talent who has left an indelible mark on The Daily Show and we’re grateful for his creative partnership over the past seven years.”
Meanwhile, Noah himself added, “Chris (McCarthy) has been an amazing leader and partner who has helped me realize my dream of working not just in front of the camera, but also behind the scenes, producing content which now airs across the Paramount family.” He continued, “I’m truly excited to see what the future holds.”
Noah took over as host of The Daily Show in 2015, replacing longtime host Jon Stewart. He became the third regular host on the satirical news talk show, which first debuted on Comedy Central in 1996 with host Craig Kilborn. He left the show in 1998, giving way to Stewart’s run in early 1999.
Noah announced his exit during the show on September 29. Explaining his decision at the time, Noah stated, “My time is up.” He also noted that there was another part of his life he wanted to get back to, in terms of stand-up, getting back on the road, traveling the world, and learning other languages.

Comedy Central has not yet announced Noah’s replacement. Some of the faux “correspondents” during Noah’s run include such names as Desi Lydic, Roy Wood Jr., Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, and Dulcé Sloan, who could potentially emerge as possible replacement candidates.
The Daily Show currently airs on weeknights at 11:00 pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. New episodes will also be available the following morning on Paramount+. What do you think of the news?
